太り Butori “Fatness” [42/365]

This word fits my mood right now:

正月太り
(しょうがつぶとり)
“shōgatsubutori”
putting on weight over the New Year’s holidays

There are a whole bunch of these, using the 太り suffix:

酒太り
(さけぶとり)
“sakebutori”
beer belly

着太り
(きぶとり)
“kibutori”
clothes which make one look fat

幸せ太り
(しあわせぶとり)
“shiawasebutori”
putting on weight from living a good (married) life

Note:

幸せ
(しあわせ)
“shiawase”
happiness, good fortune

Bonus:

着やせ
(きやせ)
“kiyase”
looking slim in clothes

Er…just water and some fruit for me today, thank you!
